Project Overview
As we prepare to kick off our fall programming and welcome students back for the new school year, our twin facilities (Buildings 780 and 782 Prospect Ave) require essential maintenance and preparation. Day of Caring volunteers will help refresh our physical spaces and prep our storage areas for crucial student events later this semester.
Task Descriptions
1. Basement Preparation & Event Storage Setup (Buildings 780 & 782)
Volunteers will clear out, clean, and organize the basement spaces in both Buildings 780 and 782 by sorting through stored items and discarding garbage or broken materials. Cleaning and organizing these basements now ensures we are prepared for our annual Christmas Store event later this semester.
2. Grounds & Roof Maintenance (Buildings 780 & 782)
Volunteers will clear fallen tree branches off the roofs of both Buildings 780 and 782 and thoroughly weed the adjacent flower beds. Removing debris from the roofs prevents structural and water damage as seasonal weather sets in, while weeding the beds ensures our grounds look clean, welcoming, and well-maintained for arriving students, families, and community partners as fall programming begins.
3. Exterior Power Washing (Building 780 & Outdoor Event Tent)
Volunteers will power wash the exterior walls of Building 780 and clean off our outdoor event tent. Removing built-up dirt and grime restores these spaces so they are clean, safe, and inviting for outdoor student gatherings, family events, and fall activities.
4. Interior Deep Cleaning & Painting (Building 782)
Volunteers will deep clean and paint designated interior areas in Building 782. Giving these high-traffic rooms a fresh layer of paint and a thorough cleaning revitalizes the physical space, creating an inspiring, bright, and welcoming environment for our students and staff as tutoring and fall programs commence.
