Charlottesville Area Riding Therapy provides therapeutic recreational horseback riding to children and adults with special needs in Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. We are looking for volunteers to help with some maintenance projects around the barn, including painting fences and poles, repairing our wooden sign and other items in the ring, and various chores around the barn. Volunteers may have the opportunity to interact with horses and donkeys, but no horse experience is necessary!

A: Please note: Following Google/Apple Maps directions to CART using the mailing address will take you to the office, NOT to the barn. Continue past the office and take the first left after you pass through the metal gates (the pond will be on your right). Take the next left and follow CART signs straight to the brown barn.

From Charlottesville:
Take Barracks Road (Route 614) West, which becomes Garth Road; Follow Garth Road through White Hall, where it becomes Route 810; Continue on 810, making a right in front of Piedmont Store. Do not go left on 614. About one mile after the yellow lines end 810 takes a sharp turn to the right. Turn left here onto Walnut Level Road (Route 668). If you reach a general store/gas station, you have missed Walnut Level Road. Stay on the paved road. Route 668 becomes Route 765 at the entrance to Innisfree - follow the small signs that say "CART". Route 765 ends and becomes Fried Farm Road. Fried Farm Office will be on the left and is about 2 miles from where you turned off 810. Continue past the office and take the first left after you pass through the metal gates (the pond will be on your right). Take the next left and follow CART signs straight to the brown barn.
