Help Restore Gallastar's Riding Arena

Description

Gallastar’s riding arena is the centerpiece of our equine-assisted programs, where rescued horses help children with disabilities, veterans, and families discover confidence, healing, and hope.

Unfortunately, our arena has deteriorated to the point it is no longer safe to use. We are currently using a round pen. Years of weather and wear have left the fencing and entrances in need of significant repair, preventing us from safely conducting riding and therapeutic activities.

This project has two components:

  • General volunteers will prepare and paint the arena fencing, cut low lying branches giving it new life while protecting it from further weather damage.
  • Skilled volunteers with carpentry or construction experience are needed to build and install new gates, allowing the arena to be used safely again.

This project will directly help Gallastar reopen one of its most important program areas, allowing rescued horses and the people they serve to return to work together.

We can accommodate 5–15 volunteers, including 2–4 volunteers with carpentry or gate-building experience. Gallastar will provide paint, tools, and building materials. Volunteers should wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes.
