Who We Are
The Rivanna Trails Foundation was formed in 1992 to develop a network of rustic trails that would eventually encircle the City of Charlottesville and extend into Albemarle County to connect with existing trails and historic sites. We currently maintain over 20 miles of trails as part of this network.
RTF also recognizes a large unmet need in our region for multiple use paths that can be used by walkers as well as people with disabilities, children in strollers, and bicyclists. We therefore also advocate for the creation of greenway and multi-use pathways that parallel or are part of RTF's existing trail system.
What We Do
The mission of the Rivanna Trails Foundation is to create, promote the creation of, and protect pathways, trails and greenways within the Rivanna River watershed for the purpose of connecting people to one another and to nature.
