Volunteer: Donations for High-Risk Older Adults

JABA is seeking donations for the Respite and Enrichment and Community Senior Centers!

These donations will be used to support older adults seeking social, emotional, and physical support and engagement at JABA Centers.

Please, NEW ITEMS ONLY.  Please do not include food, medications, used items, or puzzles with more than 300 pieces. We do not need yarn, costume jewelry, or greeting cards/stationery at this time.  Thank you. 

Donations Needed for Community Centers: Items in most need are in bold

Community Center Members so appreciate small gifts that are used for holiday gifts, birthday gifts, BINGO prizes, and fill individuals' needs.

$5 and $10 Gift Cards to Food Lion or WalmartHIGH NEED: *BINGO Prizes (small gifts for men/women, including personal hygiene items like toothbrushes and toothpaste, toilet tissue, lotion, shaving cream, nail care items, small notebooks, soft socks, or small gifts around themes of nature, vehicles, writing, art, music, etc)* Acrylic paints of all colorscanvas for painting, any sizepaint traysscrapbooking suppliesmodeling clay and sculpting toolsStreamers in any colors Adult Word Searches - Large Print Preferred Activity Books for Adults (Sudoku, variety puzzles, etc.) - Large Print Preferred LARGE PRINT books, especially romance novels Simple coloring pages made with puff paint for low vision clients to color (use puff paint to highlight the lines) Easy hook yarn craft kits Large needle and thread sewing kits (for limited mobility) Sports Illustrated Magazines Baseball cards Craft Kits New Fuzzy Socks New Hats/Scarves (homemade are great!) 100-300 Piece Puzzles (note we cannot accept puzzles with more pieces due to low vision) Puff Paints (variety of colors) Markers, Colored Pencils, Crayons Activity Kits for Men (simple model cars/airplanes, simple 3d wooden puzzles, sports themed)Plastic storage bins/tubs (large preferred)

Monday – Friday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm - please have donations boxed or bagged, and clearly labeled with your name and email or mailing address so we can thank you.

Volunteer: Volunteering/learning at the PVCC Community Garden

The PVCC Community Garden is always looking for volunteers who are interested in gardening and/or helping out the hungry in our community. We have a gorgeous garden space and are an all volunteer efforts. It is not necessary to be a gardener to help (though that's nice). We have individual garden beds, native plant beds, communal flower and herb plots. Most of the helping involves watering, wedding, harvesting, or general upkeep of the space. It's a wonderful community of people - some have been with us for a decade or more while others are brand new. Come get involved! We have tools and gloves available. If interested, contact garden coordinator David Lerman at garden@pvcc.edu.
