Volunteer: Volunteer Mentor – Girls Leadership Circle, Charlottesville Spring 2026

Join us in empowering middle school girls through our Girls Leadership Circle, using the
evidence-based Lean In Girls curriculum. As a volunteer mentor, you will help guide small
groups of girls through interactive activities, discussions, and leadership exercises designed to
strengthen confidence, resilience, and communication skills.

Register to serve as a volunteer HERE. 

Key Responsibilities:
● Support participants in building leadership, teamwork, and self-advocacy skills
● Facilitate small-group discussions and activities
● Encourage positive peer connections and a sense of belonging
● Serve as a supportive role model and mentor throughout the program
● Arrive early to assist with set-up and review the program plan
● Help with clean-up at the end of each session

Training: Volunteer mentor training will be provided ahead of time to prepare you for the role.


Time Commitment:
We need volunteers who can join us every week for all seven sessions, and also those who can
help occasionally when their schedule allows.
● Ideally, mentors can commit to all seven weeks of the program to support consistent
small-group engagement.
● We also welcome extra volunteers each week to assist with general workshop support.

Dates & Time: Thursdays 4:00 - 6:00pm (April 16 - May 28)
Location: Gordon Avenue Library - (JMRL) 1500 Gordon Ave, Charlottesville, VA 22903


The program is held for seven weeks from 4:30 -5:30pm. We appreciate volunteers coming
early to assist with set up and to review the program plan and then help with clean up.


Impact: Help middle school girls navigate challenges, build meaningful friendships, and grow
into confident, empowered leaders.
