Description

Project Linus is a national 501c3 charity that makes new handmade blankets for children, birth to age 18, who are hospitalized or traumatized in some way and in need of the hug that only a blanket gives. We do this through our many volunteers.

Our chapter began in Charlottesville in 2006. Our "blanketeers" have made and donated children over 6200 blankets. We are committed to giving to children in University of Virginia Children's, Ronald McDonald House, Albemarle County Child Protective and Youth and Family Services, Camp Holiday Trails, Emergency Responder Teams to name a few. Annually we donate blankets to the children of our deceased servicemen and women and public servants who have died in the line of duty (TAPS)and children of deployed veterans.

The day long event includes a set up to run the gambit of blanket making process depending on the type of blanket being made; cutting, pinning, edge ironing, edge sewing, labeling, tacking stitching, tail flipping and of course keeping count. No experience is required. Experienced sewers can bring their machines and tools if preferred. This event is our biggest in person event for the year.
