Who We Are

Throughout the year blanketeers are busy making complete quilts or just toppers, crotchet, knitted, no sew fleece on their own time, at their own pace. While other volunteers come together and sponsor Make A Blanket Day (MABD) at prearranged locations, for a few hours or a day of blanket making, sharing stories and laughs.

Blankets are made of new, kid friendly, washable materials.

Anytime a child is in need of comfort, Project Linus provides a blanket to snuggle in.

What We Do

Project Linus is a national 501c3 charity that makes new handmade blankets for children, birth to age 18, who are hospitalized or traumatized in some way and in need of the hug that only a blanket can give. We do this through our many volunteers.

Our chapter began in Charlottesville in 2006. Our "blanketeers" have made and donated children over 8400 blankets. Post COVID pandemic, we are reconnecting with agencies that service children; University of Virginia Children's Center, Ryan White Infectious Disease Clinic, Ronald McDonald House, Ready Kids, Camp Holiday Trails, and Emergency Responder Teams to name a few. Annually we donate over 100 blankets attending TAPS for kids whose parent/guardian who died in combat, Camp Corral- kids of disabled veterans, and children of deployed veterans.

If you manage an agency that services children ages birth to 18, please contact us to see if we can provide some blankets.
