Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville is looking for a group of hands-on volunteers to help with landscaping in the Southwood Mobile Home Park!
Purchased in 2007 to prevent a mass displacement from happening, our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate has been the property manager of the Southwood Mobile Home Park, a community that has housed people in Charlottesville for over half a century. While we are currently building new affordable forever homes for the Southwood residents in that same neighborhood, we continue to maintain the Southwood property and engage with the community, and that's where we will be doing some landscaping!
All tools and PPE will be provided, but make sure to wear long sleeves and closed toed shoes! Currently the project is to dig up old rose bushes and replace it with new plants and add mulch. It will help make our community center look a lot fresher and will give your group a unique opportunity to learn more about Southwood's legacy, community and our redevelopment!
Thank you for considering this project and helping out the Southwood Community, we're sure you'll have a great and meaningful time!
