Who We Are

Activists' Guide, first made public in June 2020, is an on-line publication that fosters communication between activist organizations in the Charlottesville/Ablemarle area. The initial response to The Activists' Guide has been very strong. The first announcements about The Activists' Guide were sent to people and organizations in early June, and in less than a month, about 10% of the potential email list that The Activists' Guide is developing has been contacted. By late June—less than a month after the website launched— The Activists' Guide had already been viewed more than 2,000 times and had been visited by 743 different people. Activist's Guide website has three main features: a list of activist organizations in Charlottesville, a list of services and suppliers of special interest to activists (meeting spaces, legal aid, bullhorn rentals, etc.), and an interactive calendar, operating in real time, which allows organizations and individuals to see the events scheduled by activist organizations. The Activists' Guide engages activists who struggle for any cause related to social justice and equality. The groups featured on the website cover a broad spectrum of causes, such as affordable housing, racism/equity/inclusion, and climate change.
