Who We Are

We are a 501(c)3 non-stock corporation, a charitable and educational organization dedicated to bringing together refugees and immigrants from African countries living in Virginia Charlottesville and its surroundings by building a great network to support each other, to make their voice heard, show their existence within the community by doing businesses and contributing effectively to the community life.

Africans United Communities of Charlottesville is a nonprofit organization, a Community of Communities within a Community

What We Do

We foster unity and solidarity among all the people from the African countries who have chosen Virginia and the United States as their second home.

We help newcomers settle and succeed in their integration within the Virginia and the local Charlottesville community, with the aims of soon helping those beyond this community. 

We encourage African refugees and immigrants to pursue their education once they have arrived and settled in the United States.

We promote African cultures and identities by having them taught by experts from all over the multiple's communities throughout the continent and the world to those who are willing to learn. 

We advocate and protect newly arrived African families and individuals from being exploited and unlawfully discriminated against.

We encourage people from African countries living in the United States, particularly in the state of Virginia, to maintain contact with their roots. Likewise, we encourage them to maintain contact with their families who reside in their countries of origin.

We motivate and help African refugees and immigrants in Virginia to participate and to contribute effectively to the life of their new communities. 

As a charitable and educational institution at Africans United Communities of Charlottesville we are expecting to achieve the goal align to its missions throughout the implementation of different programs and by providing services in education, health, social services, protection, advocacy, sports and leisure, language, housing, employment, assistance for food, utilities and business regulation for refugees and immigrants and for all other people in need from many communities across Virginia and the United States.
