Who We Are

Everyone should be safe at home—and everyone’s home should be healthy, energy efficient, and affordable to live in. AHIP’s mission is to ensure safe, affordable homes for our neighbors in need. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1976, AHIP has grown into an award-winning community resource helping very low-income residents year-round in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County in need of critical home repairs.

What We Do

AHIP is Charlottesville and Albemarle’s only home repair nonprofit completing emergency repairs, home rehabilitations, and energy retrofits to keep low-income neighbors safe at home. Our programs eliminate health and safety deficiencies by shoring up the basic elements of safe and stable homes: roofs, water lines, insulation, paint, handicap ramps, gutters, floors, energy-efficient systems, and dozens of other home repairs, renovation tasks, and energy-efficiency upgrades.
