Who We Are
Located in a neighborhood within walking distance of Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, Burnley-Moran Elementary serves students from preschool through grade 4. Burnley-Moran expresses its commitment to community through events such as back-to-school field days. Walking, healthy living, and the school’s City Schoolyard Garden form another emphasis at the school. We are constantly growing in our drive to have a strong school community.
What We Do
Nestled in a City neighborhood convenient to the historic downtown mall, Burnley-Moran Elementary School has a mission to nurture the academic and social potential of each student. With ongoing involvement of parents, volunteers, and community partners, the school provides an engaging and challenging learning environment.
Burnley-Moran has received the Virginia Board of Education‘s VIP Excellence Award winner for four consecutive years. To ensure children experience all aspects of learning and development, fine arts and physical education are an integral part of the curriculum. Integration of technology into the school curriculum supports and encourages hands-on activities focusing on 21st Century Learning.
Parent involvement is important to us at Burnley-Moran. Everyone gains if home and school work together to promote high achievement for children. Parents play an extremely important role as their child‘s first teacher. Because of this importance, we welcome parents, guardians and family members.
