Sin Barreras (Without Barriers) is a grassroots nonprofit with a mission to empower immigrants and their families in Central Virginia, with a focus on the Hispanic population by educating, advocating, and supporting their needs. We envision a society where the essential needs of all its members are met, regardless of immigration status, color, economic class or culture of origin. Through initiatives that promote cultural exchange, immigration support, and educational opportunities, Sin Barreras (Without Barriers) aims to break down barriers, celebrate diversity, and create a brighter, more connected community for all. It was founded in 2012 to help address the barriers Spanish-speaking immigrants faced in accessing essential services.
We welcome immigrants and connect them with services to meet their basic needs. We also empower and promote self sufficiency through educational programs, immigration assistance, cultural events and advocating for equitable rights.
