Who We Are
Mission:
Ensuring full community inclusion and participation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the provision of services and advocacy.
Day Support: The Day Support Program assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be more independent, learn new things, visit new places and make new friends. We provide individualized training in daily living skills, socialization, pre-vocational skills, and communication. Activities and experiences are designed to enable individuals to achieve their highest potential in interdependence and participation in the community.
Group Home: A number of group homes, each with room for up to 5-12 individuals, are located in the counties of Albermarle, Louisa and Nelson, as well as the city of Charlottesville.
In-Home Services: In-Home services are provided to adults and children throughout the Region 10 planning district. The program provides individual staff to work 1:1 to implement the goals in a individual’s service plan. The staff work with the individuals in their own homes as well as engaging them in community activities. The number of hours of in-home supports provided varies based on each individual’s approved ISAR.
Sponsored Residential Services: Provided by a family or individual who is licensed to provide care to an individual in their home. The family or individual is licensed through The Arc and the host family is responsible for meeting the needs of the individual including implementing the person’s service plan goals. The Arc of the Piedmont connects adults who have intellectual disabilities with families who take on the role of Family Sponsor. The Family Sponsor offers their home, time and support to an individual in daily living and skills that will help him or her achieve personal goals, independence and wider social supports. Sponsored Residential Providers are not direct employees of The Arc of the Piedmont; rather, they are contract employees.
