Speaking of Horses Incorporated

Speaking of Horses is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making equine-assisted speech therapy accessible to children from low-income families in Central Virginia. Founded by a certified speech-language pathologist with expertise in working with nonverbal and minimally verbal children, we combine clinical excellence with equine partnership to create transformative therapeutic experiences.

OUR TEAM

Our clinician is a licensed speech-language pathologist (M.Ed., CCC-SLP) specializing in social communication, executive functioning, and alternative communication methods. Our therapy horses are carefully selected and trained to create a safe, motivating, and therapeutic environment. Together, we provide evidence-based intervention in a setting that engages children and families in meaningful ways.

OUR LOCATION

We operate at Celt Run Farm in Central Virginia, a beautiful equestrian facility that serves as the perfect setting for therapeutic work.

We believe every child deserves access to quality therapeutic services, regardless of their family's financial situation. We are committed to removing barriers to care, building confidence in children and families, and creating lasting change through the unique power of equine-assisted therapy.

We provide certified speech-language pathology services delivered on horseback. Our therapy addresses articulation, expressive and receptive language, stuttering, and social communication—with a specialty in working with nonverbal children. By combining evidence-based clinical intervention with the therapeutic benefits of equine interaction, we create a unique environment where children are motivated to communicate and learn.

WHO WE SERVE

Children with autism, language disorders, articulation challenges, stuttering, and nonverbal communication difficulties. We prioritize accessibility for low-income families through Medicaid and insurance billing.
