Who We Are

Established in 2018, Cat Action Team (CAT) is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based out of Charlottesville operating in the surrounding 12+ counties in central Virginia. CAT is 100% volunteer operated, and does not have a physical shelter or operational building, relying solely on volunteers to help trap, transport, foster, fundraise, and much more. CAT's mission is to improve the quality of life for cats throughout central Virginia through our three primary programs: TNVR (trap-neuter-vaccinate-return), pet-retention and colony-maintenance, and foster & adoption.

What We Do

Cat Action Team believes that every cat has a right to a pain-free life with sufficient food, shelter, and medical care. Where these basic needs are not being met, CAT steps in and works with other rescues, shelters, and local community members to help those felines get the care they need. CAT aims to advocate for and support cats whose caretakers are unable to provide for them, as well as for those cats living in areas with inadequate or non-existent low-cost veterinary clinics or animal shelters. Through our TNVR program, we are able to help community cats live out their lives while working to reduce the outdoor community population. Through our pet-retention and colony-maintenance program, we are able to help folks keep their pets and provide basic care for local cat colonies. Through the foster & adopt program, we are able to place adoptable cats with fosters, eventually making their way into a loving home.
