Who We Are

Our mission is to support the dignity and independence of older people who choose to age at home, with practical help and connection from caring volunteers. Our vision is a vibrant, connected community of older adults in Charlottesville and nearby Albemarle County who are thriving in their own homes as they age. Cville Village, a 501c3 nonprofit, was founded in 2013. The original steering committee worked on the village's development until 2015 when several of the members had to step away from the project due to personal circumstances. The project was dormant until mid 2022 when a new cohort of interested and passionate Cvillians re-energized the planning. We began operating in January of 2024 with 9 member/volunteers. As of this writing in November 2025 we have 75 members and 67 volunteers.

What We Do

We recruit, screen, and train volunteers to help our members, older adults in Charlottesville and the nearby parts of Albemarle County, with the domestic tasks that have become too difficult/unsafe for them to do themselves. We also organize a variety of social events for members and volunteers to decrease isolation that is so detrimental to healthy aging.
