Who We Are
Kindness Cafe is a non-profit coffee shop that employs adults with cognitive disabilities. We have 2 locations in Charlottesville. One is at the Brooks Family YMCA, and one is at 480 Rugby Road, near UVA. We serve coffee, lattes, smoothies, baked goods, and more. Currently, Kindness employes 32 adults with cognitive disabilities.
What We Do
Kindness Cafe provides meaningful employment for adults with disabilities while creating a joyful, inclusive community space. Having a job at Kindness is valuable beyond a paycheck. It provides social connection, a sense of purpose, and opportunities for challenge and growth. Kindness also provides a space for community members with and without disabilities to interact as peers.
