Who We Are
Rise Together is a nonprofit organization that provides the academic support, college/financial aid/scholarship guidance, and mentorship needed to equip Charlottesville diverse, low income and first-generation college bound students with critical skills that will enable them to navigate the system wide inequities that currently inhibit their ability to achieve financial, educational and career independence. Rise Together targeted, integrated, and adaptive mentoring supports the efforts of the Charlottesville and Greene County YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Charlottesville City Schools, Albemarle County Public Schools, University of Virginia, area businesses and new regional Men of Color, Honor and Ambition (MOCHA) program in Charlottesville. We are founded on the idea that everyone has inherent value and the voices of our youth can inspire further progress toward greatness in our community.
What We Do
Rise Together knows Charlottesville is composed of passionate professionals and educators that are ready to construct an education pipeline that supports students during COVID-19, promotes equality for black and brown students and provides responsive programming for our youth. Our innovative academic support and mentoring model facilitates measurable and lasting positive change in the lives of K-12 rural and city students by providing weekly mentoring/tutoring sessions, live Zoom Workshops conducted by leading motivational speakers and successful professionals who often share similar life journeys, and establish an open line of communication between adults and students so we can collectively gain a greater understanding of our own compelling story and be agents of change.
