Happy National Volunteer Month and happy National Volunteer Week (April 7th-13th)! Why, you may ask, do we have overlapping celebrations? While I haven't delved into the official reason, this is what first comes to mind. We have to celebrate our volunteers twice because nonprofits simply cannot do what they do if they do not have volunteers on their rosters. So a double thank you to all of you who are already volunteering in our community. You make it possible for nonprofits to tackle hunger, housing, and so much more.
Interested in joining the estimated 77.3 million adults in our country who volunteer?1 At the United Way we make it easy for you to connect with nonprofits and further their missions. Creating a user account on cvillevolunteer.org could be your first step to connecting to a nonprofit. Once a user, you can filter opportunities in the area by type of service or interest area. You can also see upcoming one day events that you can take part in. Not sure how to get started or you would prefer to have a conversation about volunteer opportunities, please call our office at 434-972-1715. We are happy to point you in the direction of service opportunities that match your experience or interests. Please note we do not place volunteers at organizations. We will, however, give you the tools to make a successful volunteer connection.
