Description

Join us as we clean up Main Street and the edge of 10th and Page!

We're meeting in the old Charlottesville Tire parking lot at 843 Main Street. From there we'll work the lot itself and the wooded strip around it, cover this segment of Main Street, and head into part of the 10th and Page neighborhood — hitting the fence lines, curb edges, and tree-line spots where trash tends to pile up and stay.

This corner does double duty for the city. Main Street is a corridor thousands of people walk, bike, and drive every week, and 10th and Page is one of Charlottesville's oldest residential neighborhoods — the kind of place that feels different when the sidewalks and lots are clean and looked after. There's a watershed stake too: this spot sits right on a drainage divide, so litter left here washes into more than one local creek depending on which way the ground slopes — and every one of them drains downhill to the Rivanna. A bag pulled off a fence line here is a bag that never reaches the water.

We provide all the equipment — grabbers, bags, gloves, and safety vests. Just bring clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty and comfortable closed-toe shoes. It's August, so bring water and sunscreen too.

Come help us keep 10th and Page and its stretch of Main Street cared-for — and keep this trash out of the creeks that carry it to the Rivanna.
