At the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society, we are dedicated to collecting and preserving the whole complex history of the area and its people. Where hidden, we seek to uncover. Where ignored, we seek to reprioritize. Where mythologized, we seek the facts. Where known, we seek to enrich our understanding of how the past informs the present. And, we need your help to share this important and fascinating history with others. We are seeking friendly and professional individuals who love to learn to join our team of Volunteer Tour Guides. You can help us achieve our mission to inform, inspire, and bring people together by sharing stories and answering questions about the intriguing history of the greater Charlottesville area.
We will provide you with well researched information and the tour routes. We will schedule the tours and provide you with other support. All you have to do is learn some local history, be willing and able to lead a walking tour that covers about 1/2 mile and lasts about an hour any time of year, and tell factual yet compelling stories. At the ACHS, we believe that everyone has a story to tell.
