Description

Come join us in a day of sharing stories, laughs, relaxing while making/finishing blankets that will provide a warm hug of comfort for kids; no experience required.

Stations will be set up for each stage of the blanket making process; piecing, pinning, edging, flipping, labeling, tacking, inspection and tally. Three 2-person stations will be set up for making no-sew fleece blankets. (We have been gifted with several moving boxes of fabric from a blanketeer who recently passed away.) All quilting material and accessories are provided. If you are bringing your own equipment/machine, please let me know as Over 200 blankets have already been collected that just need labels sewn on. I will be bringing 2 machines. If you don't plan on being available the entire day, it's okay, just let me know about lunch for head count. Sewing and other craft items will be available for you, for a donation. Or you can donate online, specifying Charlottesville/Central Virginia Chapter, at WWW.projectlinus.org. Look forward to seeing everyone.
Who We Are:

Project Linus is a national 501c3 nonprofit organization that makes new handmade blankets for children, birth to age 18, who are hospitalized, been traumatized in some way and simply in need of the hug that only a blanket can give. Blankets, afghans, no-sews are made by our many volunteers.

Our chapter began in Charlottesville in 2006. Our "blanketeers" have made and donated children over 8200 blankets. Post COVID pandemic, we are reconnecting with agencies that service children; University of Virginia Children's Center, Ryan White Infectious Disease Clinic, Ronald McDonald House, Ready Kids, Camp Holiday Trails, and Emergency Responder Teams to name a few. Annually we donate over 100 blankets attending TAPS for kids whose parent/guardian who died in combat, Camp Corral- kids of disabled veterans, and children of deployed veterans.

If you manage an agency that services children ages birth to 18, please contact us to see if we can provide some blankets.
