United Way Thomas Jefferson Area is hosting an Educational Symposium on High Quality Preschool. We are hoping to find some volunteers to assist in making the day run smoothly. Activities include: assist with A/V, directing guests, working the registration table, and general assistance.
Depending on your assigned room sessions you may hear while volunteering are:
- Integrating Music Learning into Every Day: Why It’s So Important and How to Do It
- Big Feelings: Using Children’s Literature to Talk about Emotions in Preschool
- Help! There’s a Dually Identified English Learner in My Class!
- The Wildrock Way: Befriending Nature Inside and Outside the Classroom
- Early Childhood and the ABC’s of Behavior
The Keynote Speaker is Jenna Conway. She is the Chief School Readiness Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia, a joint appointment between the Governor’s Office and the Virginia Department of Education. Her goal is to work with public and private partners across the Commonwealth to unify the early childhood care and education system to help prepare all Virginia children for kindergarten.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to volunteers.
