Description

Help make space for healing!

We’re calling on community helpers to join us for a barn clean-out day at our therapy farm in Stanardsville! Speaking of Horses is a nonprofit equine-assisted speech therapy program serving children with communication challenges — and our therapy horses need more room to do their best work.

What we need:
We’re clearing decades of accumulated equipment, old materials, and general barn clutter to create a cleaner, safer, and more functional space for our horses and the kids who depend on them.

What to expect:
Volunteers will help sort, haul, and dispose of items throughout the barn. Expect physical work — lifting, carrying, and sweeping — in an outdoor farm environment. Bonus: you’ll likely get to meet some of our beloved therapy horses, Chief, Winnie, Teddy, Remi, and Bentley!

Who should volunteer:

∙ Anyone who loves horses, kids, or community service
∙ Teens and adults (youth under 16 welcome with a parent or guardian)
∙ No experience necessary — just a willingness to get a little dirty!

What to bring:
Sturdy closed-toe shoes or work boots, work gloves, water bottle, and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty.

Why it matters:
Every child we serve has a communication challenge that affects how they connect with the world. Our therapy horses are at the heart of what makes our program magical — and a clean, safe barn means we can keep doing this important work.

Speaking of Horses Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Volunteer hours may count toward community service requirements.
