The Back to School Bash is a community-wide event that helps students and families start the school year with the supplies, resources, and support they need. This year, we expect to prepare and distribute approximately 2,000 backpacks, along with other supplies and materials, to families during the event.
The biggest and most important part of this volunteer opportunity will be stuffing backpacks! Preparation volunteers will help us receive, sort, organize, pack, quality check, and stage supplies so everything is ready for event day. Tasks may include moving materials, sorting supplies, and preparing distribution areas.
This role may involve standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, sorting, counting, or working as part of an assembly line. We will have a variety of tasks available and will do our best to match volunteers with work that fits their ability and comfort level. When you sign up, please leave a note sharing any accessibility accommodations or needs we should be aware of so we can plan appropriately and support your participation.
Pizza will be provided for volunteers during the evening preparation sessions. Thank you for helping us prepare with care. Your time during the week makes event day possible, and we are so grateful to have you as part of this joyful community effort!
Please note: Later-week backpack stuffing shifts may be canceled if we meet our packing goal earlier in the week.
